Software Quality Assurance Lead

Duties:

• Work with the software engineering organization to develop and maintain standard operating procedures that will contribute to a high quality product.
• Identify and author test plans and test cases as needed to insure rigorous and repeatable regression testing for software releases.
• Organize, lead, and support the execution of test cases and test plans as part of the software release process.
• Organize and contribute to early informal testing during product development to provide timely identification of potential product problems.
• Work with technical publications and technical support to insure that their work products and organizations are ready to support the software release. This may include the authoring and maintenance of end user and support documentation.
• This is a hands on position requiring leadership, management and individual contributions in all aspects of the software quality assurance and product release lifecycle.

Requirements:

• As this is a leadership role the candidate must have excellent communication skills with emphasis in: listening, writing and speaking. Strong skills with standard Microsoft office and organizational tools such as: Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, (or their equivalent) and simple web composition tools is required.
• The candidate must have authored and executed multiple software release test plans and test cases for products running under the Microsoft Windows operating system.
• The candidate must be able to discuss the elements of a formal software release process and describe the foundations for making a decision to release / or not to release the product to manufacturing.
• The candidate will be expected to set up and maintain software to support task and defect tracking as well as test execution planning and tracking. Previous experience with JIRA and Confluence is desirable.
• The candidate will be expected to set up and maintain multiple virtual test environments (snapshots) using tools such as VMware on a variety of hardware platforms.
• The candidate should be articulate in standard quality assurance methodologies such as: Six Sigma, ISO Quality Standards; and Capability Maturity Model.
• Travel: minimal to none.

Duties:

• Analyze ship voyage data to determine whether a vessel performed to her charter party description
• Interpret weather charts, weather observations and weather models in relation to winds, seas, and swells
• Prepare reports for direct transmission to clients which show vessel performance in relation to the agreed description
• Prepare calculations and reports to support client claims for lack of performance or unwarranted deviations
• Prepare calculations and reports to show return on investment for clients

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology or related field
• Also requires 5 years experience

Special Requirements: 

• Knowledge of ship chartering agreements
• Knowledge of legal/financial implications of on-hire and off-hire events
• Knowledge of speed loss on varying worldwide trade routers
