Whether you chose AWT's shore-based weather routing services or our on-board routing software system, you'll have access to expert data analysis and interpretation of the most accurate weather information available. Both services are geared towards assisting a ship Master and operator in planning the route from beginning to end, as well as going beyond the final destination to support the details of our Post Voyage Reports.
The BonVoyage System: On-board Weather Routing
AWT's BonVoyage product suite is a icon-driven graphical marine weather briefing system that provides on-board and around-the-clock weather routing service. This sophisticated yet user-friendly system is both comprehensive and cost-effective, making it an indispensable operational tool. It makes our expert recommendations available to any ship at sea, at any time, in any conditions. We provide both daily analyses and 9-day forecasts in a form that allows for convenient shipboard interaction and use.
Using your on-board computer, BonVoyage utilizes the most current data downloaded to the ship in a highly compressed format to minimize air time. This data is then used to generate color-enhanced maps and graphics that allow the ship's Master to easily view and interpret potential problem areas in advance. Overlaying the vessels intended route is easy, as is incorporating detailed weather information such as: surface pressure, wind, sea swell height and direction, tropical storms and the performance of your ship. BonVoyage will even suggest an optimized route for you based on the prospective weather conditions.
BonVoyage is essential in improving the economical and safety management of your vessel in a way that traditional text-based weather bulletins or radio facsimiles simply cannot provide.
Conventional Weather Routing
AWT's conventional routing service provides information directly from our offices to ship operators and ship masters around the globe. This suite includes the initial weather conditions and routing recommendation, continuous en-route weather forecast, diversion recommendation or fine-tuning of the initial route, as well as post-voyage analysis. Our service available 24/7 as we assist ship operators in all phases of their operations:
- Pre-Planning - Drawing on years of historical data and our considerable experience, AWT can provide reliable estimates for route selection and times well in advance of the actual voyage.
- Pre-Departure - In the days just prior to departure, AWT can provide the ship master with a detailed forecast and expert route recommendation based on the best short/medium range forecasts available.
- En-Route - Our route analysts continuously monitor the ships we service in accordance with IMO guidelines. The Masters are kept fully appraised of the latest forecasts, and provided updated data together with expert route recommendations.
- Post Voyage - After the voyage is completed, a comprehensive report is prepared detailing the ship's compliance with applicable Charter Party and consumption terms. Often, there are disputes between charterers and owners on these issues, and our staff is exceptionally well qualified to help resolve these disputes without going to arbitration.
- Arbitration - When issues do go to arbitration, AWT has prepared detailed reports that establish the veracity of log weather - reports that have often been critical to the resolution of the dispute. The range of data we address includes weather models, winds, satellite imagery, buoys, climatological charts, and wave data.
